Liverpool leading race to sign 24-year-old African midfielder

The Merseyside giants have stepped up their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma by making enquiries over his personality and character as they line up a summer move. Mali international has been with the Seagulls since the summer of 2018, having arrived from Ligue 1 club Lille.

Bissouma has been pretty much an ever-present in the starting line-up when fit and available, going on to play 91 matches for Brighton, in which he has four goals and an assist. Yves has become renowned for his tenacity, strong tackling and ball-winning capabilities while he also exudes calm and composure when in possession.

Having proven himself in the PL for three campaigns now, the 24-year-old midfielder has popped up on the radars of several top clubs in England, with the Reds among those interested in signing up the central midfielder.

After what has been a disappointing defence of their PL crown, the Reds will need to bolster their squad in order to bounce back stronger and climb the mountain back to the top once again. Reinforcements will be needed across all areas of the pitch, including the midfield department where Liverpool are staring at the prospect of losing a couple of options.

Indeed, Georginio Wijnaldum could be on his way out of the club at the end of the campaign as his deal is up for expiry. In addition to the Dutchman, Naby Keita is also likely to be sold, with the Reds having run out of patience with the Guinean.

Throw in the misfiring nature of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner’s age, it is not hard to see why Liverpool would be wanting to sign a midfielder this summer.
