Man United confident in sealing £45m deal for Ivory Coast international

Manchester United are confident they can sign Lille ace Nicolas Pepe ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool.

The right winger has been one of the standout attackers in France this season, bagging 20 goals and 11 assists in Ligue 1, and Europe’s elite sides are preparing to battle for the 23-year-old ahead of the summer window.

The African player’s agent has confirmed that he’s in talks with several sides over a potential big-money move with Bayern Munich understood to be at the front of the queue for his services.

However, Manchester United have registered a strong interest in Nicolas Pepe and think they can lure the sought-after attacker to Old Trafford with a £45 million offer.

The Red Devils are optimistic they can still attract the likes of Nicolas Pepe this summer despite failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United have been keeping close tabs on Pepe for some time with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer readying to overhaul his squad after a dismal end to the 2018/19 campaign.

Questioned about his future following Lille’s victory over Bordeaux, Nicolas Pepe replied: ‘We don’t talk about it, the season is not over yet. Once it is finished, we will be able to talk about it, but now no.’

Nicolas Pepe’s agent Samir Khiat told RTL: ‘We are in discussions with clubs. No decision has been taken.

‘Today, there are no favourites, be it Bayern Munich or another club. Nicolas will not go just anywhere. ‘We have not decided on which league.’
