Man United enter the battle to sign 21-year-old Premier League midfielder

Man United and Newcastle United are following the progress of Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp, who is enjoying a fine breakthrough campaign in the PL. A product of the Spurs youth academy, U21 England international has been with Tottenham since 2013 and has risen through the ranks at a rapid rate.

Skipp made his senior debut back in 2018 under then-coach Mauricio Pochettino and featured sporadically since. However, a hugely successful loan spell away at Norwich City during the 2020/21 season put Oliver firmly on the map.

In this campaign, the 21-year-old midfielder has established himself as a permanent fixture in the Spurs midfield alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. To date, the English midfielder has featured 46 times for Tottenham, with 23 of his games coming in the ongoing season.

Oliver’s rise to prominence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has seemingly not gone unnoticed, with the Red Devils and Newcastle United now taking an interest in the Englishman’s development. Man United will be in the market for a new midfielder as Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek are both staring at uncertain futures at Theatre of Dreams.

The former is out of contract at the end of the campaign, while the latter is looking to move away after failing to establish himself in the PL. Furthermore, Matic is also not getting any younger and will need to be replaced. The Red Devils could potentially look to sign two midfielders before the next campaign.
