Man United have stepped up their efforts to sign Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. The Norwegian boss is keen to recruit a new defender before the end of the transfer window and Spain international, along with Porto left-back Alex Telles, have both been linked with moves to Man United.
However, Red Devils have intensified their talks with La Liga giants over a deal for Sergio and a move is now believed to be close. The report claims that Red Devils will pay nearly €25m to sign Reguilon but the Los Blancos are still insisting on having an option which will allow them to re-sign the left-back within two campaigns.
Red Devils, however, are understood to be against having any kind of buy-back clause in their deal for the 23-year-old left-back. Red Devils hierarchy have already stressed to the Spanish defender’s new agent, Kia Joorabchian, that the left-back will be a crucial part of their plans.
Reguilon impressed during his loan spell with Sevilla last campaign and helped the Los Palanganas win the UEL, but he is not in Zizou’s plans for the upcoming season because Marcelo and Ferland Mendy are his two options at left-back. Sevilla are also keen on re-signing Sergio, while Spurs have also expressed an interest.
Meanwhile, Porto have lowered their asking price for Alex Telles and would now accept a bid of €20m for the left-back. Brazil international’s deal with the Dragons is due to expire at the end of the campaign and the Liga NOS giants do not want the 27-year-old defender to leave on a free transfer.
