Man United join race to sign 28-year-old Argentina international

Mauro Icardi has emerged as a target for Man United as the club are keeping tabs on the striker as a contingency plan. His situation at PSG has led to speculations of a move away from Ligue 1, with some of Europe’s finest teams in the chase.

Argentina international might have the feeling of being the unwanted striker at Parc des Princes despite playing fewer than 20 matches across all tournaments for PSG this campaign. With most of his league games coming off the bench, Icardi could be inclined to move away to become a regular starter at a different team.

Rumours have been circulating over a return to Italy with Juventus thought of as the destination for Mauro. However, with the Old Lady confirming their intention to keep hold of Alvaro Morata until the end of the season, the chances of the 28-year-old striker moving there have thinned.

Now, the Red Devils look to be interested in a move for the Argentine striker, who they feel would suit their style of play. Despite having signed Ronaldo in the summer, Man United are keeping a close eye on the South American centre-forward’s situation due to the developments surrounding some of their other strikers.

Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford in January after Ralf Rangnick confirmed the French attacker’s desire to depart to seek regular playing time. At the same time, there are also concerns surrounding Cavani, who has looked unsettled in the ongoing season.
