Man United hold a strong interest in Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde and may make an approach for the defender in the summer of next year.
France international came through the youth sides at Bordeaux and made his move to Sevilla in the summer of 2019, where the centre-back has grown into one of the most coveted young defenders in Europe. In his very first season with Sevilla, Jules helped them to the Europa League trophy.
Kounde enjoyed another positive season last time out, and his form for Los Nervionenses led to a call-up to the Les Bleus team. The 22-year-old defender was part of the side that won the UEFA Nations League earlier this month.
The French defender’s rise at Sevilla and international level has not gone unnoticed, with several top teams in Europe having tried to add the centre-back in the summer. Indeed, Chelsea were hot on his trails all summer long, but a move did not materialise.
Real Madrid have also shown an interest in the Frenchman, but now the Red Devils have also emerged as a possible suitor for the Sevilla centre-back. Man United bolstered their defensive unit in the summer transfer window with the signing of Jules’ compatriot Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
Jules’ deal with Sevilla runs till 2024. Considering that Sevilla were insistent on Chelsea paying his release clause earlier this summer, their stance is unlikely to change next year should the Red Devils make a push to sign the defender.
