Man United are set to part ways with defender Brandon Williams in the ongoing 2022 summer transfer window. U21 England international came through the ranks at Theatre of Dreams, eventually making his first-team bow under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Williams has since played 50 games for Man United, scoring once and assisting three more. While Brandon did show promise, it has failed to translate into a bigger role in the playing squad.
The 21-year-old defender was loaned out to Norwich City for the 2021/22 season, and he played 26 matches for the Canaries as they once again failed to stave off relegation from the English top flight. The Englishman might have enjoyed regular playing time at Carrow Road, but it did little to impress the Red Devils, who are now set to cash in.
With Erik ten Hag now in charge, a squad revamp is the need of the hour at Theatre of Dreams. Man United are miles behind Man City and Liverpool and cannot afford to humour footballers who cannot contribute to their upliftment.
The English defender, for all his promise, has been found wanting several times, and it comes as no surprise that Erik ten Hag does not appear keen to keep him on.
With Wan-Bissaka also on the chopping blocks, it would appear that the Dutch coach wants a clean slate on his full-back roster at right-back. Brandon Williams has the ability to become a regular for a mid-table PL club.
