Man United reignited interest in £50m-rated English defender

Manchester United revived their interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose, who hinted that he could leave Spurs in this transfer window with Mauricio Pochettino’s team understood to be in the market for two new full-backs.

Manchester United have previously been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old, who made 37 appearances for his London side during the 2018-19 season.

The Red Devils could swoop for the England international to provide competition at left-back for Luke Shaw – named the club’s Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season.

Danny Rose, who has a contract at Tottenham Hotspur until June 2021, has made 198 appearances for the club since debuting during the 2009-10 campaign.

Meanwhile Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of an agreement to sign Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt, who is a top Manchester United target.

The centre-back had an outstanding campaign for Eredivisie giants, captaining the side to their first domestic double in 17 years, and Europe’s elite clubs have been at war over the central defender’s services.

Though Manchester United offered Matthijs De Ligt a £350,000-a-week deal to make him the highest paid teenager in world football, the Red Devils have lost ground on their rivals.

Juventus and Barcelona have also made advances for the Dutchman, but their efforts appear to have been in vain as French giants are on the brink of signing the Netherlands international.

The report adds that Matthijs De Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola, spoke with Paris Saint-Germain sporting director, Antero Henrique, in Paris on Tuesday and talks are expected to continue.
