Man United have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Andre Silva as a possible transfer target to strengthen their striker department. Portugal international came through the ranks at Liga NOS giants FC Porto where he shot to fame before earning a high-profile transfer to AC Milan.
However, his stint in Italy was a failure while Andre was also unable to get things back on track in Spain with Sevilla. But, having made the switch to Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, Silva has been on a roll. So far in the 20/21 season, the 25-year-old striker has already plundered 19 goals and 5 assists from only 22 matches in all tournaments.
His tally of 18 goals in the Bundesliga this term has only been bettered by Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski (25). And, the Portuguese striker’s exploits have seemingly put him on the radars of Red Devils, who have scouted him this season as Man United eye to strengthen their attacking unit in the summer.
As things stand, Man United have four footballers as options for the striker slot in the form of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani. However, both Rashford and Greenwood have largely been used out on the flanks while Martial has endured another dull campaign.
And even though Cavani has made a huge impact since joining on a free transfer in the summer, Edinson is not getting any younger, thus warranting the signing of another prolific goalscorer at the top for Red Devils. To that end, Man United have been linked with a move for Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund.
