Man United to submit opening £25m offer for English defender

Manchester United are set to lodge a £25 million offer for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has risen to prominence this season, establishing himself as a starter under Roy Hodgson, missing only three Premier League matches throughout the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made finding a right-back a priority this transfer window and the Evening Standard reports the club are preparing a £25 million bid for Wan-Bissaka.

The bid is designed to be an opening offer for the Crystal Palace star and is expected to be rejected by Palace, who will hold out for £50m for the 21-year-old.

Manchester City are also being tipped to move for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which is sure to drive up the Eagles’ transfer fee.

Manchester United are ready to pounce for the Englishman after coming to terms with Swansea City for the £15 million signings of Daniel James. The addition of the right winger, and potentially Aaron Wan-Bissaka, is the product of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s determination to sign young British talent this summer.

Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff is the latest Englishman to be linked with the move to the theatre of dreams, as the Red Devils manager targets a return to the ethos of Sir Alex Ferguson, who prioritised the signings of homegrown players.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told Manchester United he wants his transfer business completed by early July when his players are due to return for pre-season.

The Norwegian head coach wants five signings, while Crystal Palace are in danger of losing Aaron Wan-Bissaka and talisman Wilfried Zaha in one transfer window.
