Andreas Christensen has emerged on Real Madrid’s radar as a viable alternative to Antonio Rudiger. Los Blancos are ready to face defeat in pursuit of the 28-year-old centre-back, with the Blues set to offer him a bumper new contract to tempt him to commit his long-term future.
Denmark international has been with the Blues since joining their famed academy from Brondby in 2012. However, after a two-year loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, Christensen finally made his breakthrough in the first-team setup at Chelsea.
To date, Andreas has turned out 135 times for the Blues, chipping in with a goal and an assist in the process. However, with the 25-year-old defender entering his current deal’s final year, Chelsea are in a spot of bother over his long-term future. Such a situation has captured the attention of the La Liga giants.
The interest from Los Blancos is understandable, considering their need to strengthen the heart of their back-line. While Alaba arrived in the summer to reinforce the backline, it is worth noting that Real Madrid lost the services of Ramos and Varane, with only one central defensive option coming into the club.
As a result, Los Blancos have been found wanting at the back in many of their matches thus far this campaign. So, it is hardly surprising that several defenders have been linked with Los Blancos in recent weeks, with Antonio Rudiger one of their crucial targets.
