Real Madrid will unveil Brazilian teenage star Reinier Jesus as their new signing on Monday, according to reports in Spain.
The Flamengo playmaker has long been massively linked with a switch to the Bernabeu with club officials reportedly registering their interest during the FIFA Club World Cup, where he was part of the line-up that played Liverpool in the final.
Reinier Jesus is said to have undergone a medical with Los Blancos over a week ago and signed his deal last week before flying to Madrid.
And the player will eventually be revealed as a new signing for Zinedine Zidane’s men on Monday after celebrating his 18th birthday on the weekend, according to AS.
The move has been mostly kept under wraps as Real Madrid and Flamengo attempt to stay in FIFA’s good books regarding the signing of underage players.
The Blues got into hot water with the world governing body after being found guilty of breaching rules about signing players under the age of 18.
Chelsea were handed a transfer ban for two windows, although this was reduced to one after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Reinier Jesus is expected to feature for Brazil’s Under-23 team on Monday night as they play Colombia in a qualifying match for the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
The teenager performed 15 times for Flamengo in 2019, scoring six times and winning two trophies – the Brazilian Serie A and the Copa Libertadores.
