Fabrizio Romano writes that Milan made a severe move for Ceballos in the summer transfer window. After an exciting play in the u21 European Championships, Ceballos was open to the sign, excited by the chance of playing in Serie A.
The transfer ended up falling down over Milan’s weakness to find a deal with Real Madrid. While Arsenal were offering a straight loan with no option-to-buy, that was the only method Italian giants weren’t willing to accept.
Milan wanted a permanent deal or a loan with an option, but Real weren’t interested in either offer.
It’s becoming rather unusual how Ivan Gazidis’ new club seem to be interested in signing so many players either previously of Arsenal., playing for Arsenal or linked with Arsenal.
This year, Stefano Pioli’s side have been linked with Mohamed Elneny, Shkodran Mustafi, Dani Ceballos, Ismael Bennacer (they ended up signing him), Krystian Bielik, Sam Greenwood, Mesut Özil and Lucas Torreira.
Either the media are capitalising on the Gazidis contact to fabricate accounts or the former Arsenal CEO is trying to take advantage of his old position in his new one.
