Former Chelsea assistant coach Gianfranco Zola has approved Antonio Conte and Inter Milan’s desire to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer.
Belgium international forward Romelu Lukaku finalised a £75million switch to Old Trafford in 2017, however, he is being heavily linked with a summer exit just two years later.
The 26-year-old has found back of the net 42 times in 96 games for the Red Devils, however, lost his place in the starting XI to Marcus Rashford last campaign.
Antonio Conte, who joined Inter Milan earlier in the year after being sacked by the Blue in 2018, is believed to be keen to bring Romelu Lukaku to Serie A giants and Zola can see the appeal of the Red Devils man.
‘In addition to the purchases already made, I read that Lukaku could also arrive [at Inter Milan],’ Zola told FC Inter News.
‘He would certainly be a player of great impact, he has the right characteristics to play under Conte and he is a striker who, coming from the Premier League, could find so many advantages in Italy.
‘At the physical and athletic level, the Premier League prepares you really well right now and I am sure he can have a big impact in the Italian championship.’
Former Manchester United attacker Dimitar Berbatov, meanwhile, believes that Belgian forward should remain at Old Trafford and fight for starting a role in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI.
‘I think he (Romelu Lukaku) should stay, I like him and I don’t agree with all the criticism he gets,’ Berbatov said.
