Jose Mourinho has prioritised the signing of a centre-back during the winter transfer window, and Trevoh Chalobah has been earmarked as a possible target for Roma.
The report claims that Jose Mourinho wanted to add a centre-back at the start of the campaign, and it was one of his crucial requests to the Serie A club’s hierarchy. However, the Giallorossi failed to deliver, and they are now looking to re-enter the market for a quality centre-back in winter.
Trevoh has struggled for regular playing time at Chelsea this campaign, and a move away from the Blues might be perfect for his development. Chalobah will have seen the benefits of regular playing time after Tomori decided to leave the Blues for Italy.
The 23-year-old defender will hope to follow in his footsteps and continue his development with regular football at Roma during the second half of the campaign. Chalobah has been used only once in the PL with Leicester City this campaign, and he will be hope to play more often in Serie A if the move goes through.
It stays to be seen whether the Blues are prepared to let Trevoh leave on a loan deal. The report claims that Chelsea do not want to lose the footballer permanently, and therefore, they might be inclined to sanction a temporary departure so that the defender can get some playing time and continue his development.
