Jules Kounde will prefer to join Barcelona instead of Chelsea in the summer transfer window. Sevilla will demand €90m to part ways with the 23-year-old centre-back ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. France international has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Spain since joining Sevilla from Bordeaux in summer 2019.
The French defender has come leaps and bounds at the club level in the last three years while also becoming a regular fixture in the national team. The Frenchman has turned out 133 times for Sevilla while chipping in with nine goals and three assists thus far.
But Sevilla will likely lose the services of the former Bordeaux defender in the summer transfer window amid escalating interest from some of the biggest teams in Europe, including Barcelona and Chelsea.
The interest from the Blaugrana stems from the advancing years of Pique, with the veteran centre-back in the twilight of his illustrious career. In addition, Lenglet, Umtiti and Mingueza face uncertain futures at Barcelona, prompting the Blaugrana to prioritise signing two defenders this summer.
The Blues will officially lose at least two centre-backs when the summer transfer window in July. Rudiger has reached an agreement to join Real Madrid, while Christensen is ready to complete a Bosman move to Barcelona. Jules has thus emerged as an option worth considering for the Blues, with recent reports claiming they were closing in on signing the defender.
