According to Turkey national team boss Mircea Lucescu, Arsenal made an offer for Barcelona star an offer.
The Gunners were close to signing the Turkish international, but the deal fell through.
Lucescu spoke to Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde about the situation of the experienced winger and shared a summary of his conversation in the interview with TRT Spor.
Lucescu said, “I spoke to Valverde, Arsenal made Arda an offer.”
“Arda was on the verge of joining Arsenal during the summer, but it did not go through.”
Lucescu also revealed that Galatasaray and Monaco have also been in the race for Turan.
“Galatasaray wanted him but it did not happen and same with Monaco,” he added.
“Arda is going through a tough time.”
Turan has struggled for playing time at Barcelona so far this season.
The 30-year-old has yet to make a single appearance in all competitions for the Catalan giants.
Arda Turan joined Barcelona in summer of 2015 from Atletico Madrid for €34m reported transfer fee. He has played in 55 games so far and scored 15 for La Liga giants. He won the La Liga and two Copa Del Rey cup titles with Catalan giants.
