West Ham United are reportedly set to make a £35m move for Celtic centre-forward Odsonne Edouard. U21 France international has been a revelation at Celtic Park since joining PSG in 2017. Since his arrival in Scotland, Odsonne has featured in 151 matches and has been directly involved in an excellent 107 goals, in all tournaments.
With only 18-months left on his current deal, there are suggestions Edouard could be set for a move to a big English club. The 23-year-old striker has emerged as a target for David Moyes’ Hammers. It is understood the French centre-forward is eager to test himself in England after scoring 74 times for the Hoops in 151 games.
However, despite Moyes’ admiration for Odsonne, it has been claimed that the Celtic centre-forward has his sights set on a move to a so-called ‘Big Six’ club, more specifically Arsenal or Spurs. West Ham United are struggling to find a replacement for the recent departed Sebastien Haller who made a £20m switch to Ajax.
With the inconsistent striker now off their books, the Hammers will be hopeful they can secure a new centre-forward before the winter transfer window slams shut at the end of the month. However, convincing Odsonne to make the switch is proving tricky.
The Hammers have not been put off by Haller’s failure to settle at the club after selling him for £23m less than what they paid to sign him in 2019 and are set to splash the cash again on a new centre-forward. Moyes has reportedly watched Odsonne on several occasions and is convinced he can be a success in the PL.
