West Ham United keen on signing €20m-rated Arsenal centre-back

West Ham United have registered interest in Arsenal centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is currently on loan to Stuttgart. The Irons are prepared to pay €20m for Greece international. Mavropanos failed to break into the Gunners setup upon arriving from Giannina in the 2018 winter transfer window.

Konstantinos was sent on a six-month loan to Nuremberg in winter 2020 before joining Stuttgart on a year-long loan the following summer. The 24-year-old centre-back became a regular fixture in the Bundesliga’s side back-line, who extended his loan stay by another year.

The aforementioned report states Stuttgart have the option of making a move permanent this summer by paying only €3.5m. However, the German club are currently 16th in the Bundesliga table and ready to enter the relegation play-offs if results don’t go their way.

In case the Stuttgart do suffer relegation, the Hammers will be in a great position to add the 24-year-old centre-back. But if they manage to survive, things could get a bit tricky for the Irons.

West Ham United are willing to continue challenging for European spots under Moyes and have earmarked certain positions which they need to improve on ahead of the next campaign.

Central defence is one such position, with Zouma, Diop, Dawson and Ogbonna their current options. The Greek defender has been quite impressive for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and has played 30 league games this campaign, even scoring four goals.
