Barcelona great Xavi has advised his former club not to land Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane.
While the Spanish star praised their qualities, he has serious doubts over whether the pair could adapt to Barca boss Quique Setien’s style of play.
Mane and Aubameyang are two of the Premier League’s biggest stars and shared the Golden Boot last campaign, alongside Mohamed Salah.
The Gunners man has failed to agree on an extension on his current contract – which expires next year – and is mentioned with a move to La Liga.
Mane is equally sought-after by Spanish outfit Barcelona and Real Madrid, though he is contracted at the Reds until 2023.
But Xavi has warned against Blaugrana signing either forward, stating they would struggle to fit in at Camp Nou.
“Mane and Aubemayang can kill you in open space,” he said. “But Barcelona need players who know how to move in small spaces.
“I am thinking about player who would adapt to Barcelona and it’s not easy to find one. Samuel Eto’o was perfect as is Luis Suarez right now.”
Current centre-forward Suarez is now 33 and Barcelona have been linked with £97million-rated Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.
Long-term Liverpool target Timo Werner is also on Barcelona’s radar, but Xavi would be most excited to see Neymar return from PSG.
The Spaniard added: “Football-wise, he is among the three or five best in the world. I hope that he returns to Barcelona.
“He was his teammate. He would add a lot. A positive character. It would be an extraordinary signing to become a difference-maker.”
